Why should i mod/root my phone

I usually like to see all the customizations and storage I can gain from newer versions of Android. Currently bringing a Grand Duos GT-I9082 to Android 6.0.1 Dirty Unicorns. Internet is sooooo slow. >:(>:(>:(

I always heard that rooted phone is easily hackable. 

Don't you worried about your password and credit card info and etc?
