So, Linus's twitter was hacked, and now LeafyIsHere. I don't particularly care for Leafy, but is this a threat youtube need to consider?

There's nothing YT need to do about it. Linus' YT wasn't compromised, only his Twitter.

Besides, we only know of two people hacked by this guy thus far. In comparison to the number of YTers out there, a completely insignificant figure.

I don't see how Youtube can help with this. Since Leafy was hacked, I imagine channels like Luna or Pyro will be hacked next. Since Linus was hacked, I imagine channels like randomfrankp and hardwarecanucks are next...

Linus's channel wasn't, just his twitter. His channel is probably 2 factor authenticated and everything.

Unless they steal his phone, that's unlikely. At that point, it goes from relatively harmless trolling to very illegal.

This happened:

Boogie2988 was hacked through a combination of 2 step authentication and his cell service provider foolishly giving away information/enabling the hacker. So maybe it was done in the same manner to LinusTech.

His Twitter had 2-factor enabled too but they got around it, I'm not entirely sure how.

honestly I don't see what can be done about this, if someone wants access to an account, there's a way around any security measure.

 

I had to "hack" my own Google account once. It's technically hard since to do what I did, someone else would've had to known my password, other accounts and some other stuff about me, but it's technically possible.

 

Frankly I'm not that skilled (took me a days if I remember right) and I only circumvent my account's security because I was highly motivated since I needed access my gmail right away but couldn't (I was out of the country for a month and my phone couldn't used in roaming, forgot to turn off 2-steps and didn't have backup codes).

 

Frankly, I don't like the types of hackers like poodlecorp, but if I had the know-how I have now back when I was a teen, I'm not sure I wouldn't have done what poodlecorp is doing now... oh and BTW, please don't ask me how I did it, it's not that security mesures are weak, it's all about "social engineering", how much you know about the person you're "hacking" and finding the "weak link" in someone's "online life" (so yeah, I found my weak link! lol)

Well, I was about to ask what the hell is going on.

I didn't know this LeafyIsHere channel until OfficialDuckStudios released that video, and it's hacked now.

Linus got his twitter hacked, and then there's this keemstar guy who people somehow link to the hackings.

However, I have no clue what keemstar would have to do with LinusTechTips.

 

I have no clue what is going on.
I don't know what I should feel or how I should feel.

 

You don't even notice anything until you specifically start to search for it, or follow any of the people involved.

The theory is that people who are talking about Keem are getting hacked and that poodlecorp is either an enraged fan or on the payroll for keem. Apparently Linus said something about keem on the WAN show but I don't ever remember hearing it (probably a 12 year old keem fan ran and snitched if that's the case).

 

I'm more inclined to think that poodlecorp is just a disgruntled fan that has chosen to act like a child in the face of criticism rather than take it like an adult.

Well, that theory makes sense.

I thought this Leafy guy also made a video about keemstar.

 

If the theory is true, GradeAunderA might have a bad time sometime soon, he made a giant 2-part documentary about keemstar as well.
