High voltage (1.45V) with 6700K and Asus easy overclock

I just tried overclocking for the first time and used asus easy overclock option. It boosted CPU clock to 4.5GHz but the voltage seems a bit high from what I've read on the internet. fzMhGUi.png

This is results after 10 mins of Aida64 stability tests with everything but the local disks checked. 

 

Should I revert the setting and try manually finding something more conservative?

....4.5ghz should easily be achievable with 1.3v. I wouldn't personally go too much above 1.4v for 24/7 use. Overclock it yourself and get better results.

that voltage seems really high. yeah you should do it manually if you have the time. the auto oc just adds more voltage then necessary to make sure its stable, but that much voltage could reduce your chips lifespan. id recommend to keep it under 1.35V

Do you just get in a car and start driving or do you go to a school and learn it first?

Yeah right, you learn first. 

Just watch a ton of videos and read on forums or ask here and then you'll have yourself a bunch of knowledge and a way nicer overclock.

Automatic overclocks like the one you used generally just run a preset, rather than trying to figure out what your chip is capable of. Because of that, they turn up the volts to a point that even the worst chip will be stable at those clocks.

The problem is that unless you have a bad overclocking chips, generally it will be stable at far lower voltages. That is why many people frown upon the use of automatic overclocking tools implemented into motherboards these days.

I used this video and got to 4.6ghz on mine with only a 1.295 voltage using only a cryorig h5 ultimate cpu cooler.

I just done it manually for the first time in my life, Intel i5 6600k 4.5Ghz, 1.265v. I was running IBT for the stress test (50 cycles) and no crashes, seem stable now. I tried to go to 1.260 but it failed. Do it manually start from 1.300v then if it stable go down to 1.295v and keep going down until it crashes or fail.

auto OC utilities overestimate the voltage

so OC yourself if you dont want it that high

Went back and reset the settings, keeping only the XMP profile enabled. The max voltage still gets to about 1.42V.

Is this a regular occurrence when CPU turbo-boosts, or is it just a fail at silicon lottery?

1.42 is very bad for stock. In fact, I think its probably impossible. Are you sure you reset everything?

As said, all but XMP profile. Mind that that is max voltage, the avg is around 1.30V.

Not sure what's the default mode, but it's most likely not manual. I guess it was the same with 1 click OC.
