sorry for the delay,i didn't expect to get a response so i went so sleep (i'm european).SO LEGIT i cannot find the exact model,i am talking about a model that looks exactly like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-11215-00-20G/dp/B00FLMKHW8/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1467450204&sr=8-12&keywords=amd+radeon+sapphire+r7+250 but has 2gb gddr5

I'm not sure if it had a single link or dual link dvi.

i found two 2gb versions on sapphires website.

This one says its dual link but also says the max resolution is 1920x1200 but dual link dvi is capable of 2560x1600. http://www.sapphiretech.com/productdetial.asp?pid=02195012-0938-48B1-B4E3-2866EB734787&lang=eng

and this one doesn't say anything, so my assumption is that it's only a single link dvi (you can probably check the manual and it will say for certain): http://www.sapphiretech.com/productdetial.asp?pid=99E4A7A2-75F4-437D-8ACB-1A4872CA03D4&lang=eng

the manual is under the download section if you lost yours, I'm just on my phone right now otherwise I would check.

Oh dear, what games do you play? I doubt a 740 can do cs go at 144 yet alone anything else

AMD and nVidia can both hit 144hz no problem. Also, a GT740 can barely get 10fps let alone 144.

What games do you play? and what cpu do you have? Realistically, you can't power a GPU capable of powering 144fps unless you're okay with sub-1080p resolutions.

You would need between a 1070 for new AAA titles at 1080p 144hz to put things in perspective.

So why do you need to replace the 250 then? It should have either a Display port output or dual link dvi, which is all you need for 144hz.

You don't need an Nvidia card. Period. End of story.

What R7 250 do you have? And are you sure you're plugging in a Dual Link DVI cable into a Dual link DVI port? (or display port if you're using display port).

supports*

Whether or not it can run the games at that fps depends on the games, settings, and resolution. I don't have skype, but I would recommend uploading pictures to make sure nothing obvious is the problem (also what specific 250 is it? Can you post a link to it?).

Also make sure the computer is set to output 144hz to the monitor and not 60hz. Right click desktop > screen resolution > advanced settings >monitor
