So I found this file on my computer called "desktop.ini", but the problem is, I've never downloaded it. What's even weirder, is that it's in my music folder. (This is my own personal PC, not shared)

Here's some pictures of it.

A while ago, I also found a 0 byte RDP file in my documents folder.

Download malwarebytes and run it.

You must have enabled "Show all hidden Files". Its not malware, its just a windows system file.

Already did, along with bitdefender and my now current AV, Mcafee. Nothing.

Then its probably not malware. They do show up from time to time on my desktop and I never think nothing of it. If I had to guess, it might be a remnant of windows update?

"Desktop.ini" files are peppered EVERYWHERE throughout Windows systems as they store (as text files) the way a folder (yes, this includes the desktop) is set up and laid out.

If you have one folder set up as "View: List. Sort By: Name, Ascending. Group By: None" and another set as "View: Small Icons. "Sort By: Name, Ascending. Group By: Name, Ascending.", both will have different "Desktop.ini" files.

Honestly, you should have hit like Google for like "desktop.ini files everywhere" and looked at the result from How To Geek , as it covers the subject - http://www.howtogeek.com/96410/what-are-these-desktop.ini-files-i-keep-seeing/

Quote

Have you ever seen those weird desktop.ini files that seem to pop-up everywhere? The truth is that they do serve a purpose and Windows uses them to identify how a folder should be displayed, much like the .DS_Store files used in OS X.

When you create a new folder in Windows it is created with the standard folder icon, one common use of the desktop.ini file is to use to it set a custom icon for a folder, however this is not the only thing that it is used for.

it is not malware, it's simply a windows file that stores info about a folder

Sounds kind of like DS_Store from OSX
