As we all know, Linus Tech Tips has a very diverse community that provides feedback across all platforms. However, the opinions expressed can very from time to time.

So, my question is, what is taken into account and how often is it actually utilized? I've seen somewhat popular videos/series seemingly ending in the past (i.e. Kickfarted), yet others that have received more negative feedback still exist today (i.e. NerdSports). I am in no way asking about this for privacy reasons or to accuse LMG of ignoring us, but I'm just curious to how the data the community provides is actually used so that I myself (and others) can better project those opinions onto the content produced.

So, my question is, what is taken into account and how often is it actually utilized? I've seen somewhat popular videos/series seemingly ending in the past (i.e. Kickfarted), yet others that have received more negative feedback still exist today (i.e. NerdSports). Only they can answer that for sure, but basically, comments themselves are some of the LEAST USEFUL data metrics.

Here are two examples:

1. You just watched the new NerdSports. You fucking hated it. You got so pissed off at the cringey piece of shit that you went straight to Vessel Comments on the video and you start bashing it. A few people disagree with you, which pisses you off even more, so you jump onto LTT Forums and create a forum post raging at your dissatisfaction.

2. You just watched the new NerdSports. You liked it. It was new and pretty interesting. You went on with your day.

People are exponentially more likely to voice their opinion on something if it's terrible and/or doesn't live up to your (realistic or not) expectations. If someone watches a video they like, they'll file it in the "videos I liked" portion of the brain, along with most of the content they consume. If they hated it, they want to express those pent-up feelings.

LMG primarily will use things like view stats. How many views on a video vs the average. Where were the spikes in viewage? How long did they keep watching the video? Did they stay till the end? Did they watch the first 2 minutes then quit? Did they watch the sponsorspots at the end?

They'll take a ton of different sources of information and build a picture of what gets views and interactions (Comments, likes, dislikes, YT honestly doesn't necessarily care, a negative comment and a thumbs down are just as valuable as a positive comment or thumbs up).

They WILL take comments into feedback, but only those that support the statistics and data metrics, and of course, only those that are constructive (Someone saying "Linus, ur a fag, u shud quit lyfe and dye" is a totally useless comment. It doesn't tell them where they went wrong or how they can fix it.

They will listen to comments that suggest actual viable changes that are supported based on viewership and again, stats.
