would you grab this MSI GTX 980ti which is 35% on sale and costs 499€ (https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/products/90605942/msi-geforce-gtx-980-ti-gaming-6g.asp)

 

or msi gtx 1070 which costs 530€

If you don't have either just wait until Vega. The 980ti Oced beats the 1070 and is only 300 points off of a OCed 1080. The cards suck for new memory and a new core with a node shrink. wait for Vega or Volta

Grab a 1070. Just remember that the big beefy AIB cards probably won't overclock further than FE (2.1Ghz seems to be the glass ceiling for pascal), so grabbing a cheaper AIB card isn't going to let you down vs an overbuilt AIB 1070.

Depends what you currently have if you have say for example a 970 then yes go for the 1070 but if you have a 980 or something around that mark then I wouldn't bother. I would say too you save up a little longer and wait for a 1080Ti as that will be out in say 6-9 months and probably a Titan version too.

Only worry there is pricing. Seeing as though the 1080 costs as much as a 980ti, then you can safely guess the 1080ti will cost close to 1000us. Good luck with that. Unless you're trying to push crazy resolutions, total waste.

i dont have anything. i sold my 10 year old pc. but 980ti has much more CUDA cores and performance in games is almost no difference in 1440p

I think if you look at pricing the last generation titan x was close to $1000 and the 980Ti was around $350 less at release. That's why many considered that NVidia scored an own goal cause the 980ti was giving roughly the same performance as a titan x for a lot less money.

The 980ti and Titan X are two different cards, with different purposes. And you also have to look at intended resolution. The 980 is a 1080p card, the 980ti is a 1440 card. The 1080 is a 1440 card that can handle 4k in some games, care to guess on the 1080ti? 1000 bucks for comparably the same performance as a 980ti was to 1440 in 4k is not a value.
