Thermal paste? needed?

Hey! these are my specs:

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Wolfiowww/saved/WYP2FT

That cpu cooler.. Does it have thermal paste? or stock or idk? (i never heard of a thermal paste before but it sounds good)

If not do i need to buy it and when i build my pc put it there?

And what does a thermal paste do?

(im not going to overclock my pc)

How much will the temprature be with and without thermal paste

Is thermal paste deadly for the cpu or something?

Dajum many questions..

assuming you are not a troll:
watch a bit of ltt. the build quides, especially. also I think they have a video on how to install a cpu (so you don't damage anything).

and yes, the bequiet comes with gud thermal paste.

Thermal paste is critical for getting efficient and effective cooling, no matter if you are cooling with air or a water loop, and is absolutely required*. Thermal paste (or Thermal Interface Material - TIM) is a paste that is applied and compressed between the heatsink and the CPU's Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS). Most coolers come with pre-applied thermal paste, but if you ever do maintenance on your system and remove the cooler then you will need to buy some thermal paste to replace the paste that you will need to clean off. Not all thermal pastes are created equal, but if you have a low powered machine or just plain don't care then you don't need to buy really expensive paste. Without the thermal paste the temperature will be significantly higher than it should, boardering on unsafe temps, and you will reach the thermal limit of the CPU (or GPU if talking about graphics cards) almost instantly once you start any kind of work load, if your CPU doesn't burn out immediately. With thermal paste the temperature of the CPU package will depend on what CPU you have. Thermal paste is only deadly for the CPU if it is made with any materials that have conductive properties, but most thermal pastes these days are made to be non conductive. All the same, it's a good idea to not get thermal paste in your socket or on the contact pads or pins of the CPU, for Intel and AMD respectively.

*Required if you don't want to ruin your parts/care about your components lasting for any reasonable amount of time, especially if you have a high end system.

Quote me so that I always know when you reply, feel free to snip if the quote is long. May your FPS be high and your temperatures low.

The paste that comes with a high end cooler like that will work just fine, so you're good to go. Just try to avoid installing and removing the cooler multiple times while assembling the PC so that you keep the paste as clean as possible. I would say if you have to remove the cooler more than once or twice when you first build the system (or install the new cooler) then I would suggest that you replace the thermal paste. For replacing the thermal paste just use some kind of lint free material/cloth and Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol (use at the minimum a bottle of 75%, but I use and recommend a bottle of 90%). Commonly used wiping materials are coffee filters, single or dual ply (non-quilted/low quality) toilet paper, paper towels, or microfiber clothes. I would recommend that you not use tissues because those pill up/tear easily and leave behind fibers.

Not needed but change that PSU to a SeaSonic G 550w, M12II 520w, S12II 520w, or EVGA B2/G2/GS/P2/T2.

why..

The S12II is an old platform, and overclocking that build on that unit might cause a high crossload, and a voltage fluctuation.
