When I look on Steam I see all sorts of cool games that appear to improve upon or just in general breath fresh life into the classic console games whose owners refused to port their games to PC. I mean I own Shovel Knight which seems to  take me back to the days of Mario and Mega Man and there's countless other remasters in a sort of renaissance in classic gaming where Quality gaming doesn't require bank breaking hardware. But onto the point of my thread, I would love if there was some sort of game that emulated the Pokemon games without actually me needing to get a gameboy emulator that I need to feel dirty about using just because the company refuses to endorse PC gameplay.

Maybe it doesn't even need to be that similar, but when I was young and I got my first Pokemon game, Emerald it was amazing because I had never played a game anything like it before where I relished the exploration of a whole continent facing trials the whole way. Since then Pokemon has always been my flagship purchase for the handheld consoles, but I'm leaning more away from consoles of all types in favor of PC and mobile phones and I don't think Pokemon GO (not that I think it will be a bad game) will give me that sort of experience.

I'm not even really sure myself what I could be asking for. What do you think about the idea though?

If you dont want to get an emulator

buy an old GBA or something and buy some pokemon games - playing the classics on classic hardware is always the best

That said, emulating long gone dead consoles is not really an issue for me morally and I am completely against piracy but those games are no longer made or sold by the company so its hardly like you are stealing their income

Maybe play a Pokémon custom ROM/Hack like Blaze Black, FloraSky, etc. but that would require a GBA emualtor too.

I have yet to find a Pokémon like game on PC, most developers put their Pokémon clones (inspired games) on handhelds because it just works best on there. Spectrobes, Digimon games, Yo-Kai Watch, etc.

You could always go for just an RPG like Final Fantasy, but it's not the same as Pokémon.
