Not entirely sure, but its gonna enable Xbox one and ps4 users to use mods, but regardless its too soon for a remaster, hell we still haven't had a remaster of arena or daggerfall

It's coming to PC.  I'm assuming it's essentially the same just as before but with some improvements from the FO4 engine like proper DX11 and x64 support which should fix that 4GB vram limit in Windows 10 hopefully... Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't paid much attention to FO4...

Couldn't get the tweet properly embedded, but whatever:

@ShadowCaptain gone and sniped me there while I was checking facts haha

I'm curious as to whether the new textures are sourced form mods with permission from the authors, or done from the ground up.  Would seem counterproductive to make new ones imo, but who knows.

I couldnt find that out, they probably are working on a new engine or updated engine for Elder Srolls 6 and im sure the devs have played with mods etc so will already have the groundwork in place for their own graphical updates

Has there been confirmation on that somewhere?  Last I heard shortly after the announcement was that it seems likely that its both upped from dx9 to dx11 (apparently needed for PS4 and XB1), and that it was likely to be 64-bit instead of 32.  If either of those are true then its a pretty big deal for PC users, even though it may not be immediately apparent on the surface to many.

There are videos showing the graphical updates

I would assume DX11 support, advanced lighting, better multicore/threaded support etc and overall new textures and lighting etc

And mod support for consoles obviously

I'm assuming that is the case.  I don't see what the point of the update would be on PC if it didn't make those changes.  We already have the official HD texture pack DLC, plus a million texture and weather mods, there's not much point adding those new lighting and textures on PC unless they're based on more up to date engine and possibly more efficient than the modded dx9 implementation.

I'm pretty sure this engine is finally dead, I'm pretty sure FO4 was supposed to be the last game to use it and the next game is being built from the ground up.  But you do raise an interesting point. the texture assets could be sourced from the next Elder Scrolls game if they already have those ready.

Maybe, I doubt it though

I think its just the last hurrah for that engine and they will be working on a new one

Well this won't really affect PC in any way since modding did what it's trying to do about 4 years ago.

That's me. I do mod some games but for games like this I actually like it vanilla.

From Todd's own lips.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_1mzhRQSsM&feature=youtu.be&t=9173

To be frank it's just about the only way they could have done it if they want PC users to develop mods for console users.  They need a centralized baseline, without it many PC users would have just continued on their merry way and have ignored the remaster entirely.

Oh.... Is it.... This would be interesting...

Though, I assume mods will need some reworking. I'd be mad if ECE isn't compatible with the remastered skyrim.

It's a safe assumption to make that not every mod in the library will be able to move forward seamlessly.  However the belief is that the special edition is going to be a separate game download (ie skyrim2.exe) so you can always load the original if ECE and SL breaks to all hell and is unable to get fixed/reworked.

Gonna need a bigger SSD...

Should be a really good thing though to have a more stable and robust foundation for the game to layer the mods onto.

Anyways, tell cortana to remind you to ghost your system on the 27th of October, book the week of Oct 31st off from work and prep for hermitville.

I've seen you say similar things in the past, but have you ever tried modding skyrim?  Just want an idea of what your comments are based on since they're wildly different from my experience.

On the note of the remaster, it's now confirmed that it is 64-bit.  Also @Pohernori you'll be happy to know that the SKSE team is looking into recompiling for TESV-64, however they understandably want to get there hands on the remaster before doing so since no one knows what other changes there maybe in store.  Gonna be a fair amount of wait and see happening for a while I'd wager.

yea you havent seen the light yet.

you dont have to change the gameplay, but UI improvements are mandatory and graphic improvements are a very nice thing to have.

the remastered version will probably just use some mods or build them right into the game.

The UI in skyrim sucks, but ive never had an issue enjoying the game with it, even after like 100 hours in the game

I honestly just dont have the time, patience or care enough to bother modding stuff, if im not happy with the vanilla experience i will just play something else, but I still enjoyed Skyrim just fine without having to mess with stuff

I will probably just never be into modding

That's about what I figured, they do say ignorance is bliss.  However that does leave much to be desired when expressing an opinion on the matter, namely sincerity and an informed basis for comparison.

Its not ignorance, and its not bliss

I just dont care, ok so its prettier, so what? the game isnt pretty but its serviceable and I still enjoyed it

I can happily play Witcher 3 on ultra, and then go place space invaders on my atari 2600 10 minutes later

I just really cant be bothered messing around with mods, for negligible benefits to my enjoyment, i have over 600 games on steam, i would rather spend time playing something new,, having a new experience, a new story, new gameplay mechanics, than spend my precious free time fiddling with mods

I agree mods can do impressive amazing things, and all power to people who use them, but I personally have no interest

I also just want to play the game how the developer intended, even with its flaws, I want to experience what they made, the way they intended, if I have a negative experience? fine, I will just play another game after
