Teacher for programming

Hello I am wondering if anyone can teach me how to program in java because I cannot find any teacher that will teach me for free they all cost money. I would like someone to come up front and see if they can teach me over some sort of program that allows both of us to see the code. Please reply to this thread if you can help or leave me a message.

You may well need to pay to get any kind of worthwhile service. However, you might be able to offer something in return for the lessons, such as a steam gift code or two without spending too much or transferring actual money. Do you have a skills that you could teach?

The best way I learn on anything it I just try it. For example using After Effects for the first time. I got some video and just started going through effect panels, changing things, and so on seeing what the outcome would be. Then when I would get an idea or want to do something I saw I would watch a Youtube video on how to do it. Now programming in Java is a little different as you need some basic knowledge to do anything but a short video would do. Then after that just do stuff. Don't worry if it doesn't work or breaks. From there you can google more specific questions and so on until you master it.

Well the funny thing is that I did exactly what you said and I still can't grasp it its like learning in school I can't really learn from a video so I am successful in school because I can ask the teacher questions and I get an answer right away. But the thing with me is that I am not patient to wait for the uploader of the video to comment on the video. So I prefer a real living person or someone on the internet to teach me how to thats just the way I do things because videos don't work and I try to grasp it I can't quite get it. The only thing left is ask someone if they can teach me.

Although I hate java try getting a book in a bookstore of java. My friend once borrowed me his 900+ page book for java and it really went into detail but i just hated the syntax, found c++ much more pleasing. I learnt HTML & CSS basics with a book and then googling stuff which i didn't know do advance with my beginning knowledge. Hope it helps.

 

And btw i don't really know a good site for java, yes there are a few but you just learn how to do it, not why would you do it, which is the exact difference between online and books, but of course a teacher would be the best.

Like others have said, you learn by doing. You can read all the books you want, read all the example code, but you won't absorb anything unless you take that code, figure out how and why it does what it's supposed to, and make changes. Start small. If you're a visual learner, theres plenty of youtube channels I can recommend, Derek Banas and thenewboston (for beginners) being 2.

 

What languages are you looking to learn? I could maybe help you in my spare time. I'm only a 3rd year CS student so I don't have any real world experience, just coursework and a few apps I've made for fun, but I'm sure I can still teach you some things.

I would only go after coding if it is something you really want. With programming there is only so much you can learn from classes. Most classes or courses only skim the very  surface of what  is possible. You really have to want to teach yourself as that is really the only way you will really get good. If you dont have the dedication and time to do the majority of the work and research yourself then it may not be a good career choice. My advice is not to chase after a career only because it looks good on paper or makes a ton of money. You really have to want it and enjoy it to make it a career. If you really want to go that route, then i would recommend starting out in a language like c++. In many cases it can be more beginner friendly than java as allot of the syntax is easy to remember and some even caries over into other languages (my personal opinion). I would download a compile like codeblocks, eclipse, or visual studio and just start messing around. The best way to learn programming is simply by doing it. Think of a simple program you want to make and just figure out how to do it. Google is your best friend when it comes to programming so dont be afraid to google every question you have.
