GTX 1070 brands

Hey guys,

So, waiting for a good aftermarket 1070 (EVGA, GIGABYTE, MSI, ZOTAC etc) to pop up. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/graphics-cards/nvidia/geforce-gtx-1070. Quite a few brands.

I intend on overclocking, so want the best chance for the Silicon Lottery. I see GIGABYTE have this "GPU Gauntlet" thing where they guarantee better overclocks, so yes preferably a well "binned" GPU as i intend on keeping it for a couple years (used to do the 80 variants but realised it's not exactly cost effective and i should follow the price to performance route).

I'm quite interested in the EVGA SC or FTW cards when they come out.

Are any of the big brands bad for coil whine, RMA etc? Most reliable for well binned chips?

Also do the EVGA "classified" variants mean greater binned GPU'S?

Thank you in advance for any replies. Loving the community here on LinusTechTips!!!

Not really sure we can know yet which cards will be prone to coil whine. I suppose maybe you could go based off reputation. But in most cases I would suspect it to be a big problem.

Yeh it'll all pretty much be off reputation. I've only owned a GTX 680 (water-cooled and OC'd myself) which i love, but yeh time for an upgrade lol. Love my gaming but a 4 year old card no longer cuts it

Well that's good to know. You can get PCB specific water-blocks right? I'm assuming the FTW and CLASSIFIED versions have custom PCB's.

Yeah, EKWB will be making waterblocks for those cards.

EVGA SC have same PCB as FE, so there is already waterblock for that.
