GTX 1070 FE: Will it be worth it in the long run

ConiferousJelly

So I am planning a run to Micro center tomorrow to get most of the components for my next build, one of them could possibly be a graphics card.

Since this will be my last build for a while, and it needs to last will the Founders Edition GTX 1070 hold up?

I hear that the reference coolers are mediocre and louder than ones to come, will I have an issue with getting the FE on day one? As in, will having the reference cooler cost performance in the long run considering I am going to be running it in a Mini-ITX build?

Thanks,

ConiferousJelly

Fam the FE isn't even worth it in the short run. Just wait for aftermarket and custom PCB cards to drop. They don't cost as much and your ears and eyes will thank you.

Aftermarkets will perform better and cost less (so FE not worth it), the founders edition thing was an idiotic marketing move by nvidia they should have just phased out the reference model like past lineups, as for how well it will hold up it should do well.

Edit: Wait you have an itx build, hmm if you don't have any airflow room an FE may perform better, but I'd personally still avoid paying the premium

I'm not that worried about the premium, just about performance. Really hoping EVGA will have the GTX 1070 SC available tomorrow though, that would be best case scenario.

EVGA claimed the SC will be launched tomorrow, but who knows how many have been produced and sold to retailers.
