it varies a lot depending on your ambient temps, but id say ~10°C above ambient

Depends on MULTIPLE variables like airflow and ambient temps... manually set RPM's in the bios for your fans... Many variables can affect it.

Mine (i5 4690 Locked 3.9Ghz) sits around 35-38*c.

In Australia (Currently Winter'ish) and my room is at 20*c, my i5 4690 is locked @ 3.9Ghz constant on ALL cores (even @ idle)

If I use speedstep (declocking on idle) to 2.0Ghz or so, it's about 30-31*c after leaving it a while.

This is why you don't listen to them without them proving it first with showing you the facts of the matter.

High for someone in Antarctica but not the Deserts of Africa. (Variables matter)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

thats actually really good. my idle temps are around 50C on stock cooler, but idles temps arent really important. just make sure it stays around 80 or under on load

Yeah, idle temps really don't matter as long as they're not higher than load (which probably isn't even possible).

I set my fans to spin super slow until ~60C so my PC is really quiet on idle, with CPU temps being in the low 40's on an NH-D15.

don't worry too much about it, my 4690k idles around 38-42 degrees while idle.

Idle temps don't really matter but it can normally be 20-50c depending on many factors.

Comparing K SKU i5 to i3 in terms of temp is pointless. i3s won't never go near 80C limit, even with stock cooler.

No, that's actually pretty solid if your ambient is typical room temperature (22-25C)

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
