Faster Ram worth it?

I am either going to buy

16Gb (2x8 at 3666 Mhz)

Or

32 Gb (4x8 at 2400 Mhz)

Both are priced nearly same

(difference is rs 200 or USd 3)

No, Faster =/= Better.

What is your application though? You may not even need 32gb.

It depends on what you want to use it for.

If some video editing\rendering - go for it (but check that your mobo supports it first!), if not - then no.

wrong (at least for gaming and vm stuff)

anything above 16gb doesnt effect the performance of games at all.

there is a performance difference with ram speeds (there are multiple videos about it) but on anything but the highest end rig's its quite small.

so it depends on your rig if its worth it or not.

Ram speeds only really matter if you're using an APU I think.

CPU: Intel 3570 GPUs: Nvidia GTX 660Ti Case: Fractal design Define R4  Storage: 1TB WD Caviar Black & 240GB Hyper X 3k SSD Sound: Custom One Pros Keyboard: Ducky Shine 4 Mouse: Logitech G500

Yes for an APU it matters, but for anything that is not an APU...

Faster RAM isn't gonna give you that much of a performance boost.

If you are running integrated graphics faster RAM is better otherwise it doesn't really matter.

  • AMD Athlon X4 760K CPU   |   MSI FM2+ ATX A88X-G45 Motherboard   |   8GB 1600MHz RAM   |   MSI GTX 760 GPU (Reference)
  • Thermaltake Versa H22 Case   |   1TB Seagate, 0.5TB Hitachi (7200RPM)   |   ArcticRed+ 700WStock    |   Windows 8.1

speed does not equal performance, CL does, however it matters very little and you should spend the money on other pars like gpu or cpu

For a handful of games, faster RAM can make a difference, even when using a dedicated GPU. These are pretty few and far between, but I would look up how faster RAM performs in the games you plan on playing.

If your computer isn't for gaming, ignore all of this.

My video rendering is mostly for YouTube (1440p or 1080p) both are DDR4 Ripjaws V

why go for a lower capacity if they're the same price? :/ it won't make that much of a difference anyway regarding speeds...

The i7-6700K does not really count as an APU, AMD has true APU's

And you have a GTX 980 ti, so even if you'd had an APU you wouldn't notice any difference.

as said it helps with performance but not by much.

personally i would go with 16gb of 2400mhz.

Speed isn't really noticeable in ram with gaming. Maybe 2/3 fps difference. If you're doing heavy video editing or 3d modelling, it may be a good idea to opt for the faster memory.

Nothing.

Do you plan to sell your 980ti then? For how much? I'm looking for used one but in good condition.
