R9 390 tired of 1080p 2k vs 4k what to choose?

edhusky

Well I have a single R9 390 card and I am planning to go 4k hoever I don't know what is relevant. 2k 144hz monitor or a 4k 60hz monitor. I play games but i am not a pro player I used my pc for coding playing and watching tv as well as browsing net.

What to go for:

4k

Philips BDM3270QP/00
ASUS PB287Q
Philips 40" 4K LED BDM4065UC/00

2k

ASUS MG278Q

ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q

and so on...

well it depends 4k will probable be better but it will really hit performance in games and except (if you want to play at 4k) to bump settings down a bit or you can set your res to anything lower than 4k.

A 2k 144hz panel i think is not the right thing to do since the r9 390 can i most AAA games can't hit 144 fps (It does look better don't get me wrong but i thing 4k would be better since your not only gaming)

You would think Ubisoft would support the Bulldozer based architectures more given their digging themed names like bulldozer, Piledriver, Steamroller and Excavator.

Lol 2k or 4k looks nicer than 1080p and a 390 can handle 1440p*

1440p is both much easier on the GPU, plus you won't have to use scaling if you get a 27" monitor, whereas 4K, I've been told anything below 40" requires scaling.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I think the sweet spot for everything right now is -

2k 27inch 144Hz 1ms TN's (I am not into nvidia g-sync or AMD Freesync as I set my FPS with whatever I play)

or if you prefer IPS etc.

Then get as much FPS as you can and your golden.

I recommend 60hz for cheaper monie, 144hz is not worth the extra doughie cookie

144hz being worth it or not entirely depends on the user
