A friend of mine is trying to record some various games on his temporary laptop. The issue being the laptop is a dual core, 1.9ghz, 3gb-DDR3 potato from walmart.

The games he plays are older games, typically nascar so he can play the games at a decent frame rate and quality. The issue is when he records he tops out at around 8-10 fps.

I barely game, much less record, so I need some suggestions for a light weight recording program. Free or with just a 30 day trial.

obs is free

but it wont magically make your crappy laptop perform better

Diidn't expect it to, Hycam just seems to be too much for it

The laptop is just for the next month or so, then he has to get one with a 970m or better for college.
