Far Cry 3 running like absolute trash

flibberdipper

I just installed Far Cry 3 on my PC, and it runs like absolute trash. As you can see in the video, it does a couple frames, stops, does a few more, and repeats.

think it's because of Windows 10, as I ran this fine on Windows 8 (averaged about 30-40FPS at high settings on my GTX 480). There aren't any processes (*cough* System and Compressed Memory *cough*) whoring up resources, and nothing is thermally throttling or running out of power. Also, sorry about the blurryness at the end of the video. Autofocus sometimes refuses to work on my main phone.

Important Specs:

Intel Pentium G3258 @ 4.5GHz (not the issue, mind you)

8GB DDR3 1600 RAM

Nvidia GTX 480 @ 800MHz (completely stable until 875, just so you know)

Windows 10 Pro x64 v. 1511

dual core processor and a crap graphics card. when you get a 380/970/290/ range it'll improve.

Was it FarCry 3 that wouldn´t run properly on a dual core, or was that FarCry 4?

Did you have a driver crash you might not have noticed that could be locking your gpu's clock speed really low?  That happens to me sometimes.

You clearly missed anything I said. It's NOT the CPU, and its NOT the GPU. I ran this perfectly fine on Windows 8.1, but now it runs like ass. So please either remove your head from your anal cavity and come back to help, or just don't come back at all.

Before my 7950 died, I could run it on ultra and still hit 50FPS most of the time. So...

Yes, as Greezy said it was 4.

My 560 ran Far Cry 3 just fine, even on Windows 10.

(albeit Blood Dragon, but it's the same game under the hood basically)

Is your GPU fully utilized?

Nope. Multiple reboots have not fixed it, and performance is fine in every other game.

Clearly your head is still in your ass. I've used this card before for this game, and ran it at the SAME SETTINGS, and got 30+ FPS. Again, get your head out of your ass or leave.

In the video you should make out a part where the one graph bounces up and down sharply, and that is the usage. So basically... No. Not at all.

So far I've tried 1080p high (which was fine last time), 720p low, 480p low, and then 800x600 low, and it produces the same result in all 4 scenarios.
