Skryim Modding

Lays

Hello, I've been kind of wanting to play skryim more, but I want to get some high texture mods and other stuff like that, but I have no idea where to start. I figured since I almost always forget to play it, and end up playing something else instead, maybe modding+tinkering with that would give me more of an incentive to play.

Does anyone know where I should start, what websites/ mods I should browse?

Idk where to even start. Any suggestions for what I should get would be great, thx guys :P

Skyrim 2K textures http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/607/?

i recommend looking around Skyrim Nexus for mods that you like. i can also recommend SkyUI.

Edit: There is also the Flora Overhaul http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/141/? and the SIMM Mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8655/? (I recommend you download this from the Steam Workshop, since it is difficult to install)

Check the most downloaded page of Skyrim nexus, and pick the ones you like, that's what I did. It kept me in Skyrim for some to, I barely finished it, I guess I'm,just not into Skyrim that much

Do you think sky-ui will work right with nvidia surround? TONS of menu's are screwed up if I try to play in surround, they get ridiculously stretched out :(

And can I use the 4k texture pack? Idk how much vram it uses up, also I think "frostfall" was kind of cool looking, I'm subbed to a guy on youtube that does skyrim commentaries and he used that mod in a ton of his videos, it's really cool, you actively are lowered skills/stats whilst being out in the elements for a long time and have to use tents/campfires to survive

I don not know if SkyUI will work with surround.

You can try installing the 4K texture pack, but Skyrim graphics mods hogs VRAM, so watch out for that. Lastly, Frostfall is awesome. If you were a fan of old school RPGs it is a must.

I have never tried installing it, but I guess so. Most mods can be found there, but if you can't find, just try to google it.

Have you modded your skyrim before? If not:

1. Get Mod Organizer. When using the Nexus Mod Manager it'll actually replace the original files, making uninstalling some mods quite troublesome. Mod Organizer saves eveything in a separate folder.

2. Read every description/readme! This is extremely important as a simple conflict may corrupt your save.

3. Get BOSS, it really helps sorting out conflicts and ordering your ESPs.

4. Beware of scripts. If you can choose a non-scripted mod over a scripted one then do so. The problem with scripts is that they cannot be removed even if you uninstall the mod, so always make sure you have a save before you install a script. Some mods do allow you to stop the script before you uninstall it, so even if it can removed it won't do anything.

5. Get the Unofficial patches for the expansions you use. These fix a looooot of bugs.

6. Go look at the ENBs available. These will probably be the biggest visual upgrade you can get. There are a lot of ENBs so it's really up to you to choose your favourite. If your PC is beast then start by checking K ENB, that shit looks amazing.

With that said, here's the mods I use for textures/environment:

Static Mesh Improvement Mod

Skyrim HD 2k Textures

Skyrim Flora Overhaul

Grass on Steroids

SkyTEST - animals and predators

W.A.T.E.R.

Lanterns of Skyrim

Project Reality - Climates of Tamriel (this doesn't work very well with some ENBs, so ask in the comments)

Bellyaches Animal and Creature

Bellyaches HD Dragon

Better Beast Races

Ethereal Elven Overhaul

Amidianborn Book of Silence

The Skyrim HD - 2K textures has 4K textures as well. The full version is mostly 4k, the lite version is 2k.

If you really want to struggle to get 60 fps then there's a very easy way to do it. After you've set your textures and picked an ENB just raise the view distance for grass, npcs, shadows, etc. One thing that really annoys me is how when you can clearly see the grass appearing as you move or the shadows changing the moment you get closer, even if it's like 50 meters ahead of me it's still noticeable and it pisses me off. If I had your PC that would be pretty much the first thing I'd do.

I haven't installed the ENB yet, I kinda just threw everything on the "recommended mods" list in, tried playing and its kinda laggy, I need to re-download precision x's on screen display and see what my fps is later, then go from there.

I'm thinking maybe I didn't pay enough attention whilst downloading everything and maybe goofed something, may just re-download skyrim since it only takes like 30mins with my net and start from scratch and pay more attention lol
