AMD Polaris Tech Day is Today

Well, AMD is certainly not aiming at Project Cars, this is the most gimped game on Readeons on the market along with Rise of the Tomb Rider. So they cannot deliver good performance there even with card two times more powerful than GTX 1080, it would still score lower than GTX 970 in this game :D:D

Project Cars isn't exactly the best showcase for game optimization around though :)

I'm not sure of how anyone see's AMDs lack of a pascal presence as a good strategy. No advertising, no announcements. They should at least be teasing a product to combat pascal sales but instead plan on letting nvidia have months of uncontested advertising on top of at least a month of having the 1080 available.

Come on, if you don't give us something to look forward to, how can you expect us to care?

Everyone is under NDA and await the launch date. Next month is expected to reveal new AMD GPUs, so close enough.

And AMD isn't yet interested with GTX 1080 direct competitor as they are starting with lower market segments - bigger ones, at lower prices, and some less performance.

Your first point has nothing to do with my comment. The embargo has nothing to do with AMD releasing information or teasing new cards.  It just stops reviewers from releasing it.

Secondly, how do you know AMDs plan when they haven't released any official information? Not releasing any information or teasers whatsoever is not a good marketing strategy.

Furthermore we'll probably see the 1070 release before we hear anything official about AMDs cards.

Edit: Thought embargo was until 6/29 instead of 5/29 meaning AMD would make no public announcements at computex.

I doubt it. Computex is right before the GTX 1070 release. But people are definitely going to be able to get their hands on the GTX 1070 before Polaris cards.

Don't forget about the AMD event in 3 days. We're supposed to get some Polaris updates from that.

We will hear more about Polaris before the 1070 is released, though I feel the 1070 will come out before Polaris does.

I'm under the impression that since AMD tech day has passed, so has AMDs opportunity to release info, which I hope is incorrect.

If they give us specs, pricing, and a demo at computex that would make perfect sense. If they say nothing, I stand by my original opinion and don't understand what they're thinking.

Yeah, I'll be more confident in AMD if they at least give us something by the end of Computex.

Though if its not a 1070 killer at a lower price that can crossfire to beat 1080, then I'll continue to worry.

I want to see something compare with the 1080, I don't consider a 1080 so be enthusiast card. its just a high end card marketed as enthusiast.

As others have mentioned by now, AMD actually never released any official documentation or statements giving the 1.0, 1.2, etc, naming convention.

That naming convention was invented by the tech journalist community. Although AMD never corrected them until recently.

Yeah, I think AMD just refer to it by "Generation," as seen here in this reference guide.

I doubt the pic is breaking NDA. The NDA is probably very specific. It's not like attendees have held the conference a secret.

As for breaking NDAs, sure, you can do it but it's not gonna be fun if it's discovered you've broken the agreement. Yes, I know: anonymous leak on the internet. However, it's often very possible to discover the source anyway.

Besides, it would honestly be very childish and irresponsible to break contracts just so you can gain some karma points from a bunch of nerds on the internet looking for the tiniest of details regarding a graphics card launch. You don't hold your professionalism in high regard if you do that, that's for sure.

my opinion on NDAs - total bullcrap

take the HB SLI bridge shit that went on before the NDA lift

someone from EVGA posted on their forums that there will be only 2 way SLI - and that was true; but the internet went apeshit because people with the info weren't allowed to talk

some other people leaked the info that nVidia will allow 3way+ but only with a driver key they can supply at request - and that was also true

so .. what's the reason for NDAs?! to restrict access to information?! for what purpose exactly?

I understand putting an embargo on review release date so every outlet can have a decent amount of time to do theirs

but, information that is crucial to the consumer so he'll make a informed purchase should not be withheld
