Do RAM brands matter?

Do they matter and what are timings and are they a big concern with cheap brands?

Personally i went with hyperx cheap and reliable and so far the ram is perfect and works really well.

RAM is RAM, there is barely any difference between cheap and expensive ones if they have the same specifications. That said, if your RAM from a reputable maker breaks, you can be sure you will get a replacement. With a Chinese knockoff you can't always be sure.

And as I said, IF they have the same specifications. Maybe the cheaper ones are just cheaper because they have worse specs.

Nope... As others say, RAM is RAM, most of the chips are coming from either Samsung, Micron or Hynix. Given that Crucial tends to always have low priced value kits, I'd wager that other low priced value kits are also using chips from Micron. Crucial is almost certainly using Micron since Crucial is Micron's brand.

The timings don't really matter. Does not affect performance according to most tests.

Avoid ram that needs a higher voltage, as it will run hotter.

no, no, no, no and (you guessed it) NO

Pretty much all DRAM chips are made by SK Hynix or Samsung or Micron technology.

 

At most you would probably be comparing between those 3 companies as far as DRAM goes.
