RAM is RAM, there is barely any difference between cheap and expensive ones if they have the same specifications. That said, if your RAM from a reputable maker breaks, you can be sure you will get a replacement. With a Chinese knockoff you can't always be sure.

And as I said, IF they have the same specifications. Maybe the cheaper ones are just cheaper because they have worse specs.

Nope... As others say, RAM is RAM, most of the chips are coming from either Samsung, Micron or Hynix. Given that Crucial tends to always have low priced value kits, I'd wager that other low priced value kits are also using chips from Micron. Crucial is almost certainly using Micron since Crucial is Micron's brand.
