A decent Silence- Build

Greetings!

So im planing to get a new rig for gaming, as my old one is getting weak and loud.

Spoiler

<Gigabyte H77DH3/i5 3570K(yes...)/Asus HD7870-DC2-2GD5/8GB DDR3/250 GB Samsung Evo 850/1TB HDD>

I'm willing to pay up to 1500€ for a silent build with good performance, so i dont have to upgrade in about three years to come. Would love to play The Witcher 3 and later this year BF1 in Ultra Settings on a solid framerate.

I decided for: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/kT7PxY

Processor:     6600K @ 4,4 GHz (230€)  slight oc here, no 6700k needed

CPU-Cooler:  bequiet Dark Rock Pro 3 (75€)  Going big here for an oc with low noise

Motherboard: Asus Z170-A  (150€)  not sure about this one, they do look all the same for me to be honest...

Graphics :      Nvidia 1070(450€?)  waiting for benchmarks, and its release of course, but a titan X-like performance is okay for me, while the 1080 f. edition goes for 870$ in Germany. We have no price for the 1070 aftermarket edition

though i think it will be likely or a bit less than 450€ (500$).

RAM:              Kingston Savage DDR4 2666 MHz- CAS 13 (80€)

PSU:              bequiet! 600W Pure Power9 80+ Silver CM (80€)  http://www.bequiet.com/en/powersupply/684

Case:             bequiet! Silent Base 800 red (120€)    https://www.alternate.de/be-quiet!/Silent-Base-800-Tower-Gehäuse/html/product/1146248?

Display:          double 24" 1080p 60Hz 0815 display atm, but I'm aiming for an affordable(400$ish) curved 34" wide screen with an 1440p IPS-panel

Storage:         500 GB Samsung 850 Evo(150€)  got a 250 GB Evo 850 for my OS and love it, so im going to replace my old hdd to also game on a SSD, im fix on that, although i know it isn't financially efficient

OS:                 running Windows 7 atm                   may change that 7 for a 10 sometime, but not now

Peripherals:    May go for a K70 rapidfire and some new speakers, but thats another thing and not considered in this budget

All in all 1335€ (1500$)

I got a few questions:

Do i need a Dark Rock Pro 3 for 4,4 GHz or is there a cheaper solution with compareble low acoustics? Or is it maybe better to go for a lower oc?

Why did the Asus Z170-A got bad ratings while it seems perfectly fine for me? I think it has all I need, with room for future expansions, and a nice Bios to work with

Does anyone have seen or used a good affordable(400$ish) curved 34" wide screen with an 1440p IPS-panel?

So, what do you say? I'm looking forward to your responeses.

Have a Sparkling day!

I wouldn't get a samsung HDD because of the recent BS they threw at customers with their magician software, but overall it looks decent.

Dark rock is a solid option, if you want silence you can't really cheap out on it and it performs really good, if you do the OC right and let it downclock and turn down the voltage when it's not needed it should stay quiet overall, only during gaming stuff could get louder but then it's just a matter of turning down the OC until you are happy with the balance between OC, noise and temperature.

Z170-A looks also good to me tbh, no idea why it wouldn't be good.

i actually build a similar system with a dark rock 3 (non pro), a bequiet psu and the silent base 800. its very close to silence. you could easily sleep in the room with this on. but you will notice that this is the first case bequiet made. there are some decisions which annoyed me a little and one usb header was broken. define r5 would be a good choice too.

thinkpad l450, i5-5200u, 8gb ram, 1080p ips, 250gb samsung ssd, fingerprint reader, 72wh battery <3, mx master, motorola lapdock as secound screen

Please quote if you want me to respond and marking as solved is always appreciated.

Be aware that if you choose to go with windows 7 you will most likely run into problems, I have had to explain this to several people over the last few weeks about skylake motherboards not being USB 2.0 at all as it doesn't support it... and windows 7 not natively supporting USB 3.0, so the win 7 install ISO has to be patched for USB 3.0.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

You can't update your firmware unless you allow samsung to collect data from you.

I can only find non-english sources about it so you might need to translate it

http://nl.hardware.info/nieuws/47976/samsung-magician-software-weigert-firmware-update-zonder-datacollectie---update

There are a lot of other options out there that are worthy alternatives so personally i would get something else, but in the end you decide.

That doesnt seem like a problem which can't be fixed, and i dont really need the new features Win 10 is offering. But I'm will be sure to check that when I have my new system.

Well I didn't notice any BS recently or anytime but will keep that in mind. Finding a balance is a good idea, but youre right, lets first see how much noise will be produced. And what I didn't consider is the fact you're speaking of, that there will only be a louder noise while under load and at that point I wont care.

That sounds like exactly what im going for. It would be interesting to know what did actually annoy you?

a couple small things. like the cutouts near the motherboard beeing to small to fit angled connectors like the usb3 30pin header. and some smaller cable management things. just typical beginners problems. but therefore they are really good in other stuff. for example every harddrive can be mounted with vibration absorbing rubbers. its a good case but sometimes it gave me headscratching.

btw with the reduced tdm the dark rock 3 should be enough. its a bit more quiet due to having only one fan. and i would seriously considor to get an amd card if your upgrading your monitor soon. freesync is just really appealing!
