So the title pretty much explains it. I had my 3770k @ 4.5ghz with a vcore of 1.24 then for a month or a little more I had it back down to stock speeds. Now trying to load up that oc or any other ones that worked as plug and play now no longer work. I had my 4.5 saved as a OC profile in the bios so all the setting are the same as before. No hardware changes have been made. So nothing has changed and the OCs stopped working. Something that caught my eye in Core Temp is under power consumption in watts the power draw seemed ridiculously high it ranged from the low 200s(watts) then jumped near 300 watts then bluescreening at 1049 watts. My power supply isnt even that big. It didnt do this before and that is the same exact identical profile.

have you checked the voltages on that profile just to be sure?

100% sure I even went through and made sure that it was limited at the 1.24v. I even redid the profile. Thankfully my pc still works at stock clocks.

Try manually overclocking it again, sounds very odd.

That wattage draw is scary. Did you upgrade the BIOS version? Some times that can cause instability. Clear your CMOS and do a system clean.

Havent updated the bios at all.

Maybe your hardware is worn out and can't stand the same power draw. That may sound stupid but I don't see any other explanation right now.

Hardware is 5 months old it better not be worn out.

Well you are running the chip outside of spec, so that could be the case, and that's just tough luck.

But you were running it well within the accepted "safe voltages" for OCing, so I would think it unlikely to be wearing out. If the problem persists then just run it at stock so you don't completely lose your chip.

Check your voltages to make sure everything is in line. Your chip could be degrading, just at a faster rate than what is expected. I've seen the same thing with my 955BE where I can't reach the overclocks I had saved when I initially got it, which is a couple hundred MHz higher than what it is now. Until you get it solved, it's best to dial it back to stock or a more conservative OC or else you risk running into BSODs.

I'd try it out with a different power supply before doing anything else.

Ya I'm already back to stock speeds figured I would ask for advice before another attempt.

I don't have money to throw around my power supply is fine I loaded both the CPU and GPU up full load with no hitches.

Way ahead of ya. As soon as this issue CE about I went back to optimized defaults. Also I noticed that in Core Temp that even though I had the core set to 1.24 it was reaching into low 1.3 range. Also once it blue screened I would try and fix the oc in the bios and it would freeze up after a few seconds in. So I would load up the oc genie oc one off then reset the CPU clocks.

Wasn't suggesting you buy a new one, most people tend to have a spare one. It's all about eliminating the most obvious problems first.

I have one that wont handle my system but I already canceled that out as a option.
