Hello!

Since I have questions about both processors and graphics cards, I didn't know under what forum to post, so I hope General Discussion is the right place to do so.

I'm buying my first prebuild (yes, prebuild, since I dont have the money and the time to build a custom build computer), and I found 2 gaming computers, one for 1,100€, and the second one for 1,200.

The only thing that bothers me are the differences between processors and graphics card. And since you guys are computer tech gods, I would like to ask for your advice.

Computer 1, for 1.100€ has Intel Core i5-6600 (Skylake 3.5GHz Turbo: 3,9GHz,) and GTX960 2GB DDR5 MSI graphics card.

Computer 2, for 1.200€ has Intel Core i5-6400 Quadcore 2,7 GHz (Turbo 3,3 GHz) and GeForce GTX 960 4GB GDDR5 graphics card, and is build by Acer (Acer predator G3)

I don't know which one is better for not so gear dependant games (CS:GO, Modded Skyrim...), and which one is better overall. I can post more specs if you wish, but that is my general concern.

I'd like to get your advices.

Thanks in advance,

Best regards, Xiphos

EDIT: Minor typo

Well, to start off, the i5 6400 is a quad core, not a dual core.

Could you post the other specs. There's really not much difference between the specs here. I would be tempted to go for option 2 right now.

EDIT: Would advise building it yourself, though. You could get a much better build for the price.

Both of those computers cost about 2x more than building it yourself would cost, and building a computer only takes like an hour. PLEASE don't get a prebuilt and waste your money for meh performance.

Anyway, if you're stuck on tossing money away, get computer 1. Better CPU and basically the same GPU.

I guess I will go for the custom build computer afterall yes. I do know that custom build computer is better both money and performance wise. The thing is I am from Slovenia and prices are a bit puffed up.

I will check the prices for the custom build computer, and decide what to do. Thanks for the suggestions

One of the 960's only has 2gb of vram, so I would go with the build that has 4gb of vram (a gpu with only 2gb of vram in 2016 is shit)

I would reccomend you getting a barebone computer and then add an HDD and a GPU. It's the best value deal.

Here's an example:

Lenovo ThinkServer (Core i7 4770, 8GB RAM)

Build cost:

850.98$

Athlon X2 for only 27.31$   Best part lists at different price points   Windows 1.01 running natively on an Eee PC

My rig:

Honestly, it only takes 1-2 hours to build your computer and for the same price you will have a computer that is 2x better if you build it yourself

Use the following spec style and help us spread the revolution to the rest of LTT!

Procrastinator:Intel I7 4790K @4.0GHZ

Like some people say: It's adult legos. My cousin was 14 when he built his, and he isn't even so much into pc stuff. Just remember to be careful when building, and never, NEVER build on something like a carpet. I've seen too many idiots breaking their MBs or even a GPU once.

Winning an argument with a woman step by step

step one - talk to her

step two - fight with her for 2 hours even if you are really right

step three - admit that she is right for the sake of your safety

step four - realize that you have accomplished nothing and she still thinks you were wrong and now she thinks you are even more stupid

GTX1080ti, I5-4690k, ASUS Z97 PRO-GAMER, 8GB DDR3 1600mhz, Hyper 212 EVO, Tt view 31 RGB.
