battlefield 1 needs more than 8 gb ram?

GtaSeriesFan

i just watched this website: http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/?gid=3505&graphics=GeForce%20GTX%201070     with bf1 and see that it's possible that you need more than 8 gb ram, performance states 50% half of required ammount. What do you guys think will this game really need more than 8 gb of ram?

It's possible if it really looks like the trailer, but I doubt it.

Location: Kaunas, Lithuania, Europe, Earth, Solar System, Local Interstellar Cloud, Local Bubble, Gould Belt, Orion Arm, Milky Way, Milky Way subgroup, Local Group, Virgo Supercluster, Laniakea, Pisces–Cetus Supercluster Complex, Observable universe, Universe.

Spoiler

until very recently most games were 32 bit apps so they couldn't use more than 4.

sure.. why not... devs these days dont give a damn about new tech ddr4 etc... they still think we're on ddr2 and slow hdd so they need to load the whole game on ram so it can work

Actually the limit per application is 2GB under normal circumstances.

Not at all how it works. Ram is mostly for loading assets from the hard drive that are used a lot. I'm working on my game and before optimizations, it used 14gb of ram. Now it uses 3.

Wishing leads to ambition and ambition leads to motivation and motivation leads to me building an illegal rocket ship in my backyard.

We are getting closer to the point where 16GB RAM is sensible for most budgets. In the next couple years, games could quite possibly need something on the range of 8-10GB. I honestly doubt we will have issues with Battlefield 1 with 8GB. But RAM costs of DDR3 and 4 are basically half per GB than what they were when Haswell processors and Maxwell cards came out. Tech is evolving, as it is expected. Not super hard to think that 16 will replace 8 in the near future for Joe Average's build.

the battlefield games have good grapichs tho alot better than cod, i would probably guess that the grapichs won,t be far apart just see recent titles and the grapichs that are in those games amazing.
