How to get Intel GMA drivers to work in Windows 10

Djole123

So, you're the one unlucky person who has the Intel GMA iGPU and Windows 10? Here's how to have it working without bluescreens and crashes.

Level of hardness: 2/5, simple, but takes a bit of time and knowledge.

We will use some bizarre combos of settings so we don't stress the GPU (since Win10 is graphically accelerated)

Assuming you don't have graphics drivers installed, do this:

#1) Turn off animations

Go to Control Panel>System>Advanced system settings. From there, choose the "Optimise for best performance" box.

#2) Choose a light theme

In the Control Panel, go to Personalise and choose some of the High Contrast themes (I personally use White High Contrast theme).

#3) Install drivers!

Once you have done this, install GPU drivers (the older the better). If it hangs somewhere, hard turn it off and back on.

At that point it should work.

That's it, if you find this helpful, please rate it, share and leave a comment! Thanks for viewing!

Not to bash on your post but you can just set windows to unsigned driver mode (Windows 10 Test Mode) and install drivers . any drivers really.

The problem is more complex than just drivers failing to install.

Drivers will install and work for a few seconds, than the screen would go blank and bluescreen like this:

With this trick the drivers will be stable enough to go to internet and open non Metro apps. Opening Start Menu, Cortana and Metro apps (including Settings and Store) will result in the problem above (just without the bluescreen).
