budget gaming cards

im choosing between the r9 380 and gtx 960 4gb edition for both of them

the links for the place im buying them are below, also also should i wait 1-3 month so the 1080 and 1070 come out and bring the price down or should i save up and get the 1070

R9 380  for more performance

GTX 960 for nvidia features like shadowplay (and less power usage, but they aren't that far apart)

Choose R9 380 if you want more performance regardless of temp and heat and power consumption

Otherwise 960

You can get a 780 for that price and maybe even a 970 used.

yours has:

video out: 3x DP 1.2, 1x HDMI 2.0 1x DVI-I 1x DVI-D

but it differs per card

well yeah everyone can, but not everyone wants to, if he wanted to do that he'd probably ask us to pick between the R9 390 and the GTX 970

R9 380 if you don't care about power usage.

 

Or maybe R9 390/GTX 970 used ... since 1080 is almost released, prices of those will drop.

 

But I would suggest you to wait for 1070 benchmarks and then decide what to do

Go for the MSI version if you want Power, Better OC performance, better cooling and silence.

I would wait, not for the GTX 1070 as that's at a higher price point than the cards you specified, but for AMD's new Polaris cards that are coming out. They're supposed to be R9 380(X) price at R9 390(X) performance, but MUCH better power consumption. They're supposed to be announced at Computex on 1st June I believe, so not long now anyway.

Out of the two you mentioned, I would reccomend the R9 380. As an owner of A GTX 960, I can assure you it is a good card that performs perfectly for me right now but with newer games coming out that required a bit more horsepower I think the 380 will be good for you, I plan to upgrade to a 980Ti/1080. Also, I'm not sure about the 380 as I've never had one, but the 960is a beast overclocker, got +300mhz core for mine.

GTX 960 stomps on the 380 specially if you over clock them.
