My card (MSI R9 390 gaming 8GB) needs a PSU of at least 750W as it says on the package. If i buy another one for crossfire, that means i will need a PSU of at least 1500W? It doesn't make sense for a PC to need so much power. I don't know if the question sounds silly, but i'm a noob on hardware.

what's the rest of the rig like?

typically an r9 390 would be fine on a good 550W psu, but i normally recommend 650W for more overhead for overclocking and what not

dual r9 390 would need a psu of about 850W

assuming you're getting a great PSU

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Just wait for the 1070/1080 GPU's, I would reccomend one gpu over two, power consumption being one of the con's

If you have a really nice PSU, like Teir 1, you need around an 850w, but if its eh, then go for around 1,000w

No. Those recommendations are massive overestamations. Two R9 390s can be handled by 850W no problem. Hell, Linus Sebastian ran seven R9 Furies from 1600W.

I used a single a single r9 390 on a 550w no problem, and 850w would be about minimum for crossfiring the two cards

An aftermarket R9 390 might take up to 350 W (this is with extreme load, expect <280 W on gaming)

so 2x 350 = 700 W + 150 W wiggle for the system = 850 W

Don't buy a crap PSU!
