390 is better then a 970 but you should wait anyway for the 1070 benchmarks to see if thats any good and then because it probably is amazing get a 1070 instead lol and we dont know what AMD are releasing yet so maby wait for that too, should be more info at the end of the month :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

wait for Polaris and pascal benchmarks, they are a way better bang for the buck then the 970

The problem is that I live in Portugal and everything here is very expensive, and I did not want to spend more than € 1,000.

What budget, what country, wait 2 months to buy your GPU, the overclocking i5 won't be worth it for most cases, is it just a pure gaming PC?

a 390 would be faster than a 970, and give you performance gains in DX12, in addition to saving you money on a future adaptive sync display

never heard of that PSU maker

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

we dont even know yet what the prices will be for polaris, they usually are a really cheap bang for the buck. also nvidia might release a unsuspected 1050 or 1060

the 1070 is the same price as a 970 at this moment and also what aytex said if your not overclocking then get a 6500. its a slightly lower clocked but same chip.

Well you don't really need to spend anywhere near that to get a decent 1080p gaming rig.

What's your display? is it just a single 1080p 60hz display? as you could be upgrading that with the money saved here

Germany and Portugal are like totally the same thing right?

Did you mean in other countries? as the 1070 is $449 at launch, while 970s/390s are around 300.

It'll be a while before the 3rd party cards come out that are less expensive, nvidia is seemingly making people pay extra for the reference card

Then a 380 is going to be solid for the money, especially once DX12 rolls around, maybe even use the money on an i7 6700 so that you never have to replace your CPU basically, if it's maybe 100EU more or something over the i5 6500

and maybe spend a bit more on the motherboard if you want some features from it like more sata, that one's pretty basic, but still has solid power delivery and USB 3.1, effectively it'll do the job

Motherboard MSI H170 Gaming M3

That one seems a little overpriced for what it gives you, are you actually going to use the features of a higher end board? like the extra PCI-e or Sata?

Look for any like Fatal1ty board from Asrock, they're all pretty solid from a glance and have a lot of gamer gimmicky features that may or may not actually help with gaming. though I think the lower end ones lack USB 3.1, but whatever

I'm a little worried about the motherboard MSI H170M PRO-VDH because it appears to not be good for the price (€ 79.90) and want it to be red and black. I would like the computer be red and black.

About PCU:

Corsair Modular CS-550W M or Corsair Modular CS-650W M ?
