does it appear in the disk managment?

If yes, you only need to create a partition on it.

right click it -> Create new volume (iirc) -> then configure it and you're done

you can clone the hard disk onto the ssd, but need to be of the same capacity

you can shrink the hdd's partition to be smaller than the SSD

or what i always recommend people and i would do is

i will do a backup and then do a clean installation of windows

to remove bloatwares of junkwares that i no longer need and have a fresh start on my new SSD :P

I actually never knew how to switch OS to a new drive until now. Cheers!

With Windows 10 though, there's bloatware that you can't remove like the "mobile" stuff. Ew.

A fresh install of Windows is recommended, but not required. You can use programs like MiniTool Partition Wizard to clone the hard drive over to the SSD.

Wow, first you ask how to make the SSD show up in Windows, inevitably leading to an explaination for how to create a new partition and assign it a drive letter. Then you ask how to move the already existing OS partition from your HDD over to the new SSD. Well, I don't know if you have to delete that new partition you created before you can move the OS over, but your new, empty partition is certainly not needed.

Some SSD producers bundle tools to move the OS over to the new SSD. Which SSD (brand) did you buy?
