Microsoft sold 2.3 Million Lumias in Q3 2016. Sales drops 374% compared to Q3 2015.

Microsoft Lumia phones have dropped 374% compared to Q3 2015.

In Q3 2015, Microsoft sold 8.6 Million Lumias and in Q3 2016 Microsoft has sold 2.3 Million Lumia devices.

The numbers were buried in a section of the filing that Microsoft sends to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Microsoft also revealed it had sold 15.7 million other phones (likely feature phones) during the same period. A year ago, Microsoft said it had sold 8.6 million Lumia phones during the fiscal third quarter of 2015.

While that number is indeed a big drop compared to a year ago, there's also been almost no marketing or sales push for Microsoft's latest Windows 10 Mobile phones, such as the Lumia 950, the Lumia 950 XL, the Lumia 550 and the recently launched Lumia 650. Microsoft is selling unlocked versions of all of these phones themselves, and only one of them is currently being offered by a U.S. carrier (AT&T for the Lumia 950).

Awww. This is sad. Especially since Universal apps are growing.

It's Microsoft financial quarter 3 at the moment.

Sad to see the decline, especially since Windows Phone/Mobile is actually a very good mobile OS - the lack of App selection seems to keep most people off, despite the issue not being nearly as bad as most people think.

But I've always found it strange when something is selling literally millions of copies and it's still deemed a failure. I still have hope for the Windows 10 Mobile ecosystem - here's hoping the Surface Phone revitalizes the system.

I completely agree with this.
