I have an HP Pavilion p6837c desktop computer. My onboard graphics card died. While it's apart, I want to improve RAM, and my CPU.

RAM (max 32g.) is easily found. Finding what CPU's are compatible with my motherboard is not. My MB is ADX 645 WFK42GM. I, now, have an AMD Athlon II 645 CPU.

With a good VGA and 32 G. of RAM, what CPU should I use? Are combos compatible with my MB?

Find the chipset/socket type for your current cpu, then search what other cpus are on the same ones.

Needs money for car parts :P

Hey Johnny, you can put an FX-6300 in that mobo, although the 6300 says it's AM3+ I've seen people saying they have no issues on a AM3 mobo. The FX-6300 is a pretty good CPU. I only read the specs (http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c02820972) briefly though, so may be wrong.

the FX-6300 is a OK, it wont do anything demanding singe core preformance but its ok with lighter tasks and multi core stuff, i had one thats how i know.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Imo it's not worth saving.

No CPU Upgrade will change how that thing runs.

I'd say find a cheap, 3-400 USD build and go with that since even an APU will be a significant upgrade from what you have.
