I got a old Dell with a Pentium 3, and want to reinstall Windows 98. Do I use the boot floppy without CD support and use fdisk to delete the partition and then recreate the primary DOS partition, and then use the Windows 98 install CD to create the partition and reinstall Windows? Am I missing anything?

I think you use fdisk for both deleting and making a new partition.

BTW why Windows 98? Windows 2000 is a much better option, both in installation process and stability.

I already have the disc and product key so why waste my money? Plus, I'm not going to be using it much anyway, and it's the first operating system I've used.

Windows 2000 doesnt have any online activation, so you could easily install that with a ISO/Product Key from the internets.

Being an NT Kernel similar to XP, it will have more software support than 98SE. Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 is fantastic - especially for USB support.

If you do want to stick with 98SE heres the install process:

OH this takes me back to what was my youth. From what I remember you use the boot disk to create and format any partions you need. Then you need to select with CD support when you want to install.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
