Should i go over my boss's head to a higher up manager?

Ok as some of you may know from my last post i am having to move.

 

Well i went to talk to my manager about it,to let him know what is going on and to see if he would approve some PTO(Paid Time-Off) so i could use it to move, i don't know the move date but was going to give it to him as soon as i knew.

 

Ok to give a little back round for what happens next, i had called twice in the same week in march due to feeling like crap, before that i had gotten sick in december to the point that the doctor at the ER gave me a not for 4 days off due to having pneumonia,and and a another call-in in september.

 

 

Ok now the problem is when i asked him about taking the time off for this he said that he thinks i am just trying to get time off,but if moving is really the case if i give him the date for moving and can try and get me 1 day.

 

He also said that we should be able to move 6 people(currently in a 4 bedroom house) in one day,because he was able to move with just him and his wife out of a 3 bedroom in one day with just a pickup truck.

 

 

Am i right that it would very had to impossible for me to move in a day?

Do you think i should talk with his manager?

Get a free Friday or Monday so you have 3 Days.

Paid time off to move?

You move on your own time, after working hours, sat or sunday, thats just my opinion.

If i asked my boss to pay me by the hour to move my own shit he would (rigthfully so) tell me to stick it.

Where i work the we earn Paid time off based on on long someone has been working there,it is know as vacation time,my work just calls it Paid Time-Off, i have over 40 hours earned,because i have worked with the same company for over 5 years.

I can't believe that you have to earn your time off and it's ridiculous that it's measured in hours.

yeah i earn 1 hour of PTO for every 20 hours i work.

Does that mean that if you work 9-5 every weekday for a year, you only get 13 days of leave?

If I was your boss, I'd just let you have the leave because it's better be important if you're sacrificing one of 13 days of the year to do it.

AHHH That makes alot more sense, we have the same thing here, its just the way you wrote it, i didt get it. well them 40 hours is your time to do with what you see fit. I fail to see why your manager thinks that he has a say in how you use it, what a retard.

But as the workshop manager at my workplace, i understand that he needs a date for planning and such.

 

As for your question, i dont think its good idea to go around your boss like that.

Bosses with grudges are not something to be desired.

Just realized i am sitting pretty good here, i get 37 hours per year of paid-off time but it has to be planned with the workplace, so its not completely up to me when i use it.

Usually i can pick and choose but it depends on how much work there needs to be done.

Sucks that your boss is questioning you on this, luckily enough I work in a place that will let you take the next day off if you wanted to.

 

It's ridiculous that you have worked there for 5 years and your manager isn't trusting you.

 

How's the working environment ?

 

My piece is that you maybe take a Friday afternoon off, and just work into the night. If your boss is really that uptight he might compromise with a half day,
