Power for pc from desk, suggestions?

josh42666

I've always wanted this creative idea(slowly getting there) of having my pc not near the desk like linus got in his videos and wanted a cool switch to turn the pc on.

Ive tried one switch not sure if its the correct one.

If anyone could recommend a switch or type of switch to search for, also some tips if any.

set the bios to auto turn on when power is received

then switch on your computer with the switch on the wall or extension cord

done `-`

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Why not just set the BIOS to wake from USB?

I have mine set to this so that my wireless mouse/keyboard can wake my PC.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

What you want is called a momentary switch, then just run two wires from it to your computer.

Depending on how far you want to go, there are a few pre-made options for you that will also give you USB ports. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B014U93JEA/

Any switch would work. I got some random switch (momentary like Scheer said) and used it on my custom from panel.

To hook it to the motherboard, you need the connector, so the easiest thing to do is to salvage a piece of cable that have the connector. After that it's just a question of soldering the wire and the switch.
