Trusted 5760x1080 Benchmarks on newer high end GPU's

Joe Brainer

It would be awesome if Linus covered the 5760x1080 plethora. I mean he did the 10320x1440. Why leave out the Ultra Ultra wide newbies HUH?!?1
What GPU's excell in 5760x1080? I.e Would an 8gb R9 390X outperform a 6gb 980ti at this resolution because of the extra 2gb of Vram? What others are there to consider?

No the 980 ti will walk all over it.  6gb of vram really isn't needed for 5760/1080 in my experience with it awhile back.  4.5gb or so is enough for most games on ultra.

The 980 ti is in a different league compared to the 390x.

no the 980ti will walk all over it still. Just because something has more vram doesnt make it better. Hell idk if the 390x can even use all 8gb. never seen one use more than 5 or 6gb. I personally run a 7680x1440 setup with another 1080p monitor uptop and have no problems with a single 980ti. cant play newest games at that res with a single 980ti but i am able to play games like dirt rally at 60fps maxed on my res and the new NFS at 60 with AA off.

Either way a 390x will not perform better than a 980ti. More vram means nothing if the processor on the card cant handle it

The 980 ti would definitely win. I have never hit that 8GB VRAM limit, I dont think I've ever gone about 4-4.5GB of VRAM usage.

I can tell you that a fury with 4gb of HBM can't max out games on triple monitors....Ideally for triple screens you will have crossfire or SLI. Its not so much the memory it needs its the GPU horse power that a single card falls short on triple monitors..

For example i was playing Assassins Creed revelations tonight on eye-infinity tonight @75hz, and my fury couldn't maintain 75fps vsync'd,

I have also tried GTAV and that could not handle triple screens on ultra staying over 60fps.

So  i would imagine a 390x would struggle too.
