Galaxy S6 or S7 (non-Edge), Nexus 5X or 6P, or LG G5 or G4. 

I guess there's really not a reason not to get the SE because it's a 6s in 5s packaging the only thing it doesn't have is force touch and an older TouchID. Though I still think you should get an Android phone over the SE mostly because Android is amazing.

All phones you listed there are huge. So they are not really good alternatives for SE. I really want that Samsung or some other android maker to make competitor for the iPhone SE, something like 4.0-4.3 inch phone with nice specs.

I got the 64GB iPhone SE on launch day and its been a dream. I restored a backup from my iPhone 6 so its already loaded up with all my pictures, apps, videos and games. Tons of stuff that constantly run in the background (constant connection to my tiles and my apple watch, constant audio streaming, push mail every 15 minutes etc) and its the best battery life I've ever gotten in a smart phone. 10+ hours of screen on time before dying. I didn't even get that kind of battery life when I had the Galaxy Note II which has a battery that's twice as large. 

 

Performance wise, it's about twice as fast as my iPhone 6 at everyday use due to the extra ram. Opening a few things up at once on the 6 required constant reloading. The iPhone SE is absolutely blazing fast and very rarely has to reload. 

 

If you like the screen size, you can't find a faster phone. It's got the same internals as the 6S (which is already one of the fastest phones on the market) but its pushing a much lower resolution display. And to top it all off, it's also quite cheap at $399 for the useless 16gb version and $499 for the one you'll want. I literally spent as much on the motherboard in my PC as I did on this phone.

Battery life on my iPhone 6 was pretty much shit to be honest. The SE is the first time I've ever been happy with an iPhone's battery life. 

 

Worst phone battery award goes to the fucking HTC Rezound though. That shit takes the cake. Literally two hours of screen time with the extended battery and an hour with the regular battery.

640p on 4", is a whole different story in terms of power consumption, than an 1080p panel on 5,5". 

 

That's almost 3 times the Pixels to power, on a 37% bigger screen area^^ Compared to latest Androids with 1440p Screen, its even 5 times more Pixels, than the iPhone SE has. 5 Times

 

This has nothing to do with software, or hardware. Simply screen size. Or the iPhone 6s would have a better battery Life (slightly bigger Battery, but larger screen and higher resolution), because hardware is the same. But nope, 6s has a much worse battery life. Going from 640p up to 750p, and  Screen from 4" to 4,7" seems to make such a big difference.

The 6s Plus can counter that. 5,5" screen, 1080p, but it has a HUGE battery (compared to other apple devices), that's why it lasts so long ^^

 

Or better say.. That's why most smartphones with big screens don't last long.

No, it's all efficiency.  The 5s has the same panel and similar battery size-50mah doesn't make much of a difference as evident in the s6-s6e. The significant battery life increase from the 5s to the SE is solely from the efficiency of the A9.

windows phones are shit, i apologise, but really, why would you buy an overpriced piece of metal with an apple logo on it hardly superior to it's competitors.

Coming from someone who's really only used iOS devices sadly, they simply feel faster. 

I'm sorry but every Android device I've used has felt kinda sluggish one way or another.

There's no reason to get mad over what OS someone uses. Personally, I prefer iOS over Android, but what OP wants is what OP wants. Unless he's choosing the iPhone SE for ignorant reasons, there's not much reason to get mad over it.
