First Build Budget gaming

So I'm looking to build my first pc. My current budget is sitting around $400 USD. The parts I'm currently considering are as follows:

     - Asrock 970M Pro3 motherboard

     - AMD FX8300 CPU

     - Evga 500W PSU

     - 8gigs Hyper Fury X RAM

     - Radeon R7 370

Is this the best configuration for this price point that will allow for decent gaming and video editing? Is the R7 370 a decent graphics card? Would going with an Intel build be better?

Personally seems fine, i just don't like AsRock as much as i like other motherboards, but that's a subjective thing. Consider if you have spare money throwing in an SSD, if not deal with the HDD until you get one!

For gaming I would strongly recommend an i3 6100 over the FX8350. It absolutely destroys the FX in single core performance which is want you want in most games, it is also a MUCH more modern CPU with better power consumption, thermals & better upgradability.

PC:

Monolith(Laptop): CPU: i7 5700HQ GPU: GTX 980M 8GB RAM: 2x8GB 1600MHz Storage: 2x128GB Samsung 850 EVO(Raid 0) + 1TB HGST 7200RPM Model: Gigabyte P35XV4 Mouse: Razer Orochi Headset: Turtle Beach Stealth 450

IoT:

Router: Netgear D7000 Nighthawk

NAS: Synology DS218j, 2x 4TB Seagate Ironwolf

Media Accelerator: Nvidia Shield via Plex

Phone: Sony Xperia X Compact

Get the GTX 950, it's faster than the R7 370 for a little more.

Aye. OR downgrade the CPU to a FX-4300 and get a 960 or R9 380. This will most likely net you the best gaming performance for under US$400. Although in my opinion your build would be greatly benefited by another $50 allowing for both the i3 6100 and 960 (or 380) as this is a real sweet spot for games.

For $400, get an x4 860k and an r9 380, should be doable. If you can add $100 more, get the fx 6300 and r9 380x.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

So if I went with the i3 6100 and the gtx950 the two mother board options I'm seeing with 4 ram dims seem to be

- Asrock Z170 ($30 Cheaper than MSI)

- MSI gaming B150

Which should I go with?
