Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

In all honesty? That's actually not too bad.

This forum circlejerks to some really stupid shit, and Beats have genuninely improved once Apple bought them out. Would they be my go-to choice? Hell no. But is this a bad deal? Not really.

Absolutely. For the wireless version, that's a fine price. If you don't absolutely need wireless, though, I generally steer people away from that.

My biggest problem with them is that I think they feel to cheap for their price point and that is really why I don't like to recomend them, and well I dont like the sound signature.

 

They have improved over the years, I must give them that.

I'd say that the humiliation you must endure when a fellow techie sees you wearing beats are enough for you not to get them. But, maybe you can sell them for a profit to a non-tech savvy friend?

Wireless is never worth. Cable > Wireless.

 

According to Innerfidelity (Believe me, he KNOWS what he's talking about), the Beats solo 2 is quite good. But most other beats, his fazit destroyed them ^^"

 

Anyway: There are so many good headphones.. No reason to take a Beats. ^^

Eh I don't hate Beats, I had a pair of UrBeats they were okay but after about 6 months of use the cable would crap out and become useless. Gave up and just got a pair of $15 Skullcandy Ink'd 2. Though for €150, I get the feeling that for the same price or a similar price that OP could get something better.

If you like music only coming from the right ear and a washed out garbage mess or bass YEAH! Go for it! No really my sister got a free pair with her macbook. They sounded just bad. Not horrible but just washed and cloudy. It goes well with rap music though

the newer wireless ones are ok. Though I have issues with giving beats money at all, though that may change with the whole apple thing

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Look, I'm searching for a portable Set of headphones that have a decent amount of bass and little noise bleed. Max I can spend is 200$. The only worry that I have with the Beats is the build quality....a lot of people say their Beats we're broken after a 1/2 a year

I'll be honest. Newer models actually sound really good (Apple era models) but they are still super overpriced. My AKGs K271 and BD DT990Pros are almost half the price and compared to Beats they are built like tank. Beats feel super cheap IMHO. Also my BDs are made in Germany and my AKGs are made in Austria, not in China like Beats.

 

To conclude - Beats still suck in terms what do you get for the money.

Yes, they are an improvement but for the price that is still really bad. You can get a separate pair that's flat and find a software to change the sound signature even if u don't want to do that you can surely buy a pair of bass heavy headphones for cheaper than that.
