Its only $120. That's almost what I spent on 8 gigs. (actually in the process of changing over to 4 $30 8 gig sticks.

if you look at how much 8GB kit are

you know there is something wrong with his build

even with extreme use, 16GB is way more than enough for a starting PC build

and with 80-90 dollars saved, I could pick a 380X which is miles better than the GTX960

and also swapped the slow 3TB drive for a 250GB SSD, he can add a HDD later

What are you doing with a 2GB GTX 960? Ditch that for a glorious R9 390!

Also, if you are picking a non-k CPU, don't bother with a Z170 motherboard.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

this cost $20 more but you get some much more for your money. You could drop down more on the ram as there is no need for more than 8 gb it most uses.

Without knowing how this system will be used it is not really possible to provide reasonable comments or suggestions. This might be a decent configuration, but more than likely it is less than optimal.

In general, it is not common to see a locked cpu paired with a Z170 motherboard. Even less common to see 32GB of memory paired with an i5. Especially with no ssd present.

There are better psu in the same price bracket.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I host servers for friends to join, I also run VMs and other ram intensive programs. If you can help me with the motherboard and psu that would be cool and what combo of ssd and hdd would you recommend?

If you are running multiple concurrent vm, some of which are running servers, I suspect an i5 will be insufficient.

Nothing wrong with the motherboard, but you could also consider an H170 board, MSI H170A PC Mate for example.

An ssd like OCZ TRION 150 240GB would be great if it can be squeezed into the budget. An ssd system drive will improve overall performance.
