Golden Thremal Paste Or Silver?

Adam Falt
Go to solution Solved by Majestic,

Gold has a lower thermal conductivity as both Copper and Silver.

It's snake-oil.

Is it worth buying golden thermal paste? And can you trust to buy golden thermal paste on ebay?

Just go with something that is fairly common and performs decently.  My 2 favourites are IC Diamond and Arctic Silver.

MX-4 is as good as gold.

Better, actually.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

MX-4 is 5-6 w/mk, gold (pure) is 300 w/mk. It's not bad, it's just that copper and silver (380) are better.

And you always need some way of applying it, hence it's never pure.

Liquid Ultra is 35 w/mk. It's really much better than it's competition, it's just a total ass to apply and clean off afterwards.

Avoid AS5, despite it being stupidly popular its not good. Also its not pure gold since that would be impossible to apply and wouldn't work as thermal paste and it wouldn't be the best. If you want the best thermal paste I would go with Coolabortory Liquid Pro.
