uses for a gpu besides gaming and video editing based tasks

i am thinking as an upgrade for my mother's pc i could add a gpu but if there's no benefit, even in very occasional tasks then it's not worth it

i chose an intel pentium g3258 for the cpu btw, and the psu is 450w (as it was the cheapest 80+ gold) so no problems there

any suggestions, even if it's minor or make the pc more future-proofed
