Hi,

I want to replace the thermal paste that i have right now.

Linus said that you need propyl alcohol to clean the current paste, but i can't get, is there anything else i can use?

Vodka maybe?

Yes, Vodka will work.

Is  nail polish remover will be better then vodka?

Pretty much the same thing as alcohol AFAIK.

Why?

Laptops have direct to die cooling solutions. Meaning they directly touch the silicon wafer that is the CPU. IC diamond can scratch it when you apply pressure putting the heatsink back on thus destroying the CPU.

It is never a good idea to put IC Diamond directly onto a CPU die.

I literally loled when I scrolled up to confirm that the word "laptop" was in the title of the thread.

any sanitary alcohol wipes should work, most general pharmacies should sell them. (and they are useful for other stuff aswell)
