Neuromanic

I'm building a new PC and I need the best graphics card for gaming, cost doesn't matter.

If cost doesn't matter at all, get the 980Ti. Best you can get right now.

CPU: i7-4770k (LM modded) - MB: GA-Z87X-UD3H - RAM: HyperX, 16GB 1866MHz - GPU: Palit GTX 980Ti Super - Storage: 1TB HDD + 500GB/120GB SSD (850 Evo/840) - Monitor: Predator XB271HU - PSU: 700W BeQuiet 80+ Gold

Personally I'd wait until Pascal/Polaris comes out

It's easily gonna take about a year until the next Titan/1080Ti comes out, so I wouldn't wait.

And the 1080 will most likely not be faster than the 980Ti.

The 980 is faster than the 780TI

And this update should be more substantial from what we are hearing.

So, I disagree.

Get any 980ti or maybe a couple if money is no problem. Even if money is not a problem don't bother with a titan x the only thing that goes for is 12gb ram and it has about 250 extra cores but the power you get from a 980ti almost matches it.

I love these threads!  Of course cost matters.  Folks with that kind of money aren't hanging around in LTT starting money doesn't matter threads for CPUs and GPUs recommendations.

With that said, what is your realistic budget for this build?

Titan X has slightly better stats than the 980 Ti.  Not sure why everyone is recommending the 980 Ti when the Titan X has more frame buffer and other improvements.

If we go off UK price a Titan X is around £850. At the moment you can pick up a reference 980ti for around 530. I would rather spend an £180 pound and get 2 980Ti which would absolutely cream a Titan X. Everyone knows what 2 980Ti's do to a Titan X

2x 980Ti Superclocked £1000

1x Titan X £840

I understand that one is grossly and obscenely overpriced compared to the other; but if money is no object, why is price being factored into the decision-making process?  He asked for the best graphics card out there, not the one with the best dollar-to-performance ratio...  I won't engage in a flame war with you, but the sarcasm is really not necessary.  The Titan X is the highest performing single-GPU graphics card on the market.  There is no disputing that.  2 Titan Xs would continue to outperform a pair of 980 Tis.

I wasn't actually doubting you. It depends how far he wants to take it. if he is after the single most powerful card then yes a Titan X is the way forward but what I actually was saying was why not spend the extra £180 pound and just get 2 980Ti's which would do a better job.  Yes he could go 2 Titan X's but while having all the money in the world to spend on it from his original post that doesn't mean you have to waste it either and in my eyes . A Titan X just doesn't warrant the price even if I was in his shoes where I could spend what I want. I would rather inform him that yes while the Titan X is out there there are better options

Understood.  I tend to take things very literally (I'm a programmer, you see ;) ).  I can understand the motive behind advising him not to WASTE money either.  Carry on.  No offense taken.  I'm sorry that I misunderstood you!

Hey don't worry about. Your were right in what you said and while I agree with the route which you gave him I just gave him another option for him to consider as numbers can somewhat be deceiving.
