Hello everyone,

Sadly my graphics card of the last 3.5 years has died. I have had a 7970, and it has done wonders for me over that period of time. It died while I was playing The Division with some friends. I have a back up card that is ancient, and it can't support DX 11. Now originally I had planned to upgrade with Pascal or Polaris, but now I am without a card to play any of my modern games. So I am forced to upgrade. I play at 1080p currently, but I would like to go to 1440p in the next year. With that in mind, what would you recommend me do? I have a budget of around $450 USD, but I could save another 50 dollars or so. I will also attach my current PC specs as well:

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Deepcool GAMMAXX S40 54.2 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus GRYPHON Z87 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Mushkin Silverline 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Seagate 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive
Case: Silverstone SG10B MicroATX Mini Tower Case
Power Supply: Cooler Master VSM 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Thank you all for your time!

I second the 980m recommendation. Mobile graphics on desktop motherboards are the hidden secret.............

You could buy a GTX 760 or 770 for now, they should be able to suit your uses for now, they are still pretty powerful. (for $200)

Once your try a 14,400 hz monitor, you can never go back to 9000 fps.

I really do encourage you to wait, even if it mean sacrificing gaming for a while. Maybe find the cheapest capable second hand card you can and use that until the next ten of cards come out.

If if you can't wait I reccomend the 380x as a bare minimum for the 1440p upgrade you plan on. If you want to turn up the settings a bit and want some more room to breathe, considering you are willing to pay the extra look at the 970 and 390. They are neck and neck in preformance.

Hope i helped :)

Everybody know about the secret of mobile graphics processors. M.2 slots actually work with mobile gpus and give infinite fps. Go for it :D:P:/
