Temperature jumps (Prime95)

Just installed a hyper 212 evo and downloaded prime95

 

I noticed that it stays stable at 66c for about 3-4 minutes then jumps to 76-80 seemingly out of nowhere. The cpu stays pinned at 100% load at both temps. 

 

Does prime95 do harsher tests every couple of minutes? Im using the Blend test.

Blend is a mix of everything, so yes it changes loads. Do small FFT's for max cpu stress test and there is another one for lots of ram.

 

If you are on an intel 4th-6th gen, make sure you set your voltage to manual in the bios, if it is on adaptive you will pull way more current than needed and you may go above temp specs if you don't have the cooling.

get aida64 instead, what is your processor?

Use AIDA64, Prime95 increases the voltage on Haswell and up to keep it stable.

dont run prime95 on haswell

use other stress tests that are not torture tests like aida64 or intel XTU
