So i should go to the 1440p the asus or the acer and when i have enough money upgrade to sli? :)

I would go for the xb271hu. I have the xb270hu. The 271 doesnt exist when i bought mine.

And i would not go for 980 SLI. I always buy the fastest Single GPU available when i need more Power. But thats up to you. Most Games will run fine with your GPU atm.

My FPS are between 50 (TR&GTA5), 70 (FO4) and 120 (BF4) in AAA Games with max settings. So you should still get decent frames with a 980. Maybe you have to lower a bit in Games like TR or GTA. And max AA isnt necessary.

Hi to everyone, i have a 980 Strix and i want to know if i should upgrade to SLI for play on 1440p, is it worth it?

Depends on the game, and if you care about having everything dialed to max

I play 1440p on a single 780ti just fine

a single one will be fine. you'll probably have to lower AA in some games to 2x and reduce a setting or 2 on poorly optimised games but it's still more than enough

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

Laptop: MacBook Pro M1 512gb

1 980 should be enough, it was designed for 1440 and low to mid ranged 4K

CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 3960X | Motherboard: Intel DX79SR "Stormville" | RAM: 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series DDR3 PC3-12800 (4x 8GB) Quad-Channel | GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 970 FTW 4GB in SLI (I have Many other builds plus 100+ Macs (don't judge me)... Many specs are listed on my profile)

i used to play a surprising number of games at 1440p on a GT640, if you have issues playing games at 1440p on your 980 you have some serious first world problems.

But with one 980 I'll be able to play with all maxed out?

What's the pont on upgrading to 1440p just visuals (on gaming i mean) xD

So in theory there won't be any problem on play, let's say the witcher 3 all maxed to ultra on 1440p?

should be able to do it at high to ultra, 1440p is 2X 1080P so you have a denser pixel count for detail and sharpness, reslting in smoother edges

Texture pack mods will possibly max out your VRAM but that'd be hard to do

and Witcher 3 should do high to ultra depending on what FPS you want

It really depends on your monitor. If you have 144 hz monitor, take the advantage and get a 2nd card.

If you have a 60 hz monitor, single GTX 980 should be sufficient with AA at minimum for recent games.

I'm running GTX 980 in SLI with XB270HU and I barely pull 60-90 frames for Rise of the Tomb Raider with everything maxed out with AA off.

CASE - CM Storm Stryker, PSU - EVGA 1000 P2 80+ Plat, CPU - i7 4790K w/ NZXT Kraken X61, GPU - MSI GTX 1080 TI Seahawk X, MB - ASUS Z97 Maximus Hero VII, RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaw X Series (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600, SSD - SAMSUNG 1 TB, DISPLAY - ACER XB270HU + SAMSUNG S24C570HL

I have only 800€ to spend i was thinking on the asus swift pg279q or the XB271HU, but i probably dont have enough money for the second card xD

If you are willing to lower settings here and there you should be fine.

Btw. You dont have to reach 144fps to get an advantage of 144hz.

Make sure you get IPS Gsync though.

Oh i thought that, and what kind of advantage can i get if i reach 60 fps??

Just because of the 144Hz or because of the g-sync?

Gsync handle anything from 30 to 144 fps. So no matter what FPS you have in between those Numbers, you will have no tearing.

If i had to choose 144hz no Gsync or 60Hz Gsync, i would go with Gsync. But since the xb270/271HU and pg279q have both, your choice should be easy.

I switched from 60hz TN no Gsync to 144hz IPS Gsync when i bought the 980Ti. And its just super awesome. You have to see it yourself to know the difference. To bad you will get used to it too quick :/
