Have you ever accidentally shorted something out or at least make a big spark or pop?

I remember when I was like 10 I had this antec 300w ( i think it was this ) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817103917

So what happened is i noticed both the fans in it didn't spin all the time. What I did is try to hardwire the fan to the 12v and gnd, but to save time, I just touched the ground to the heatsink. Even though that should of worked, I saw a big spark and a heard a loud pop. It wasn't a total loss as that thing had an annoying high pitch whine all the time.

Another one is I had this hipro 250w psu, and it got wet outside (dont ask why it was outside). I didn't wait long enough to turn it on and sure enough it sounded like bubble wrap :)

at my old school, there were pc's (i know weird right), and those pc's had a switch. a 110 volt and 230 volt switch. somebody put it to 110 volts(its 230 here) and i blew up a computer, with lotsa smoke and a nice burnt smell came off it. why was that PSU outside?

Not a PSU but I was messing with a few circuits and I managed to mess up the orientation of a capacitor twice. GJ Sam, that's why the driver isn't doing anything  <_<

Ha ha....

I remember one time I was wiring an AC outlet and I wired it wrong. I wired it so basically the live and neutral (both wires of a electric cord) were shorted out.

No, I flipped it and it burnt out, so I got another and flipped it 90 degrees and burnt it out. I am dumb.

if you think thats dumb, you never met my little brother, he broke his phone. by smashing it with a hammer, and finding it weird that it broke. the worst is, that was my old phone.

Don't think it was a mistake but i was cleaning and fixing my buddy's gaming rig because it "doesnt turn on" lol. While i was messing with it and trying to get it to to boot, one of the GTX 260's (running 2-way SLI) popped and there was a flame. Smelt like shit and now it is my glass coaster  :)

Not to mention the thing hadn't been cleaned for 2 years....was such a horrendous site. I will not disgust you all with pics....

When I was 10 i found an old computer and started playing around with it, but it wouldn't turn on, so I flipped a switch at the back of the power supply not knowing what it would do and BOOM! The PC got fried and turned the power out...

lol, now know what "that switch" does...

I was trying to make a makeshift power adapter for a hard drive enclosure once. I got the 12V and 5V rails mixed up, since they weren't labeled (the grounds weren't black either), and the thing just exploded. Flames shot out of multiple chips.

Good thing I didn't have a hard drive connected.
