I need some help with choosing a 980

You already have a 780ti, so I don't think you'd get too much more performance. I would save up for a 980ti, or wait for the new GPU lineups.

I used to be quite active here.

G1 Gaming 980 for sure. Although can you not go a tier higher for the 980Ti?

Im not sure. I bought the 780ti when the 900 series came out so it was really cheap. Do they give compensations based on performance or price? I could ask for a 980ti and pay the difference between a 980 and a 980ti. Dont know if they will agree but the people there seem pretty nice.

Unless you use nVidia apps and accessories, I'd recommend going with the R9 Fury or Fury Nano. Better performance than the 980 for the same price or even less.

I like to think that they would allow you to pay the difference and step up to the 980Ti.

You're better off skipping the 980 altogether imo if your 780Ti is being replaced. Not really a worthy "upgrade"

They wont give me a 970 right?

Just because I got the 780ti for the same price....

Like would it even be reasonable to put 980 there (not even considering 980ti)?

Hang on to that 780ti until Pascal later this year. *EDIT* Just saw you're 780Ti is defective. In that case RMA and see what becomes of that first.

Or, if you just can't wait, I recommend the Asus Strix 980. Have one and it's cherry. :) 1459/7600 OC without added voltage daily and rock solid. It's really quiet too. No coil whine and superb build quality (no GPU sag either).

Btw I do prefer NVIDIA for some options in the 3d control panel such as adaptive vsync and a couple other features.

Ah, ok. I'm assuming then, that you've RMA's the card through a local store or retailer then?

You can't really go wrong with any 980. EVGA is known for the best customer support, if that means anything to you. Are you a heavy GPU overclocker or are you more of a "set it and forget it" type?

Im RMAing the card just through the shop where I bought it, not Gigabyte. Im kind of a casual gpu guy, I don't really overclock my gpu that much. I've decided to send them a request for a 980 (model still unknown) or a 980ti and ill pay the price difference between the two cards.

Thanks for your answer, it means a lot to me that the community is so helpful and that I receive replies so fast as well.
