10GbE NIC Recommendation

Any recommendations for a simple Intel 10GbE Nic? There are so many options out there, thinking about the ebay route. Are dell/hp branded cards fine?

May we ask the purpose of the 10gbE? Intel is praised for Ethernet connectivity but any name brand should be okay if it saves $$

Purely for fun, I believe you commented on my last post about the Netgear switch. I purchased it and now need 2 cards for my server and workstation. Figured Intel would keep the drivers side of it simple. The machines would be a server 2012 R2 box and Windows 10 Pro.

Well since it's not for a business or anything I would think something like these would be fine. But anything name brand, in good condition, and over $50 should work as well

Intel X540s are the most consistent from my experience and if you already dropped the money on a Netgear switch, what's another $500 for a pair of NICs..

Are HP NICs out of the question? A peek on eBay shows quite a few single-port interfaces.

 

I also see a few Dell-made Intel X520s.

That was my question, since there's so many of them for sale. I wanted a card with 2 ports for flexibility.
